NCLHIA (North Carolina Home Inspectors Association)
Gus Stasi, Steve Smull and I started this organization back
in 1997 just after North Carolina licensing came into effect (1996).
The need for such an Association arose because ASHI (the American
Society of Home inspectors) was not very interested in catering
for the projected increase in licensed home inspectors. And, although
Jim Gaddy and I had started the local chapter of ASHI in the mid-80’s,
I had to break with ASHI, even after serving on the national board
for several years.
NCHLIA is a body which seeks to educate and train inspectors
over and above the standard required by the Licensing Board in
Raleigh. It now has around 550 members across the State.
